Hey Brian! I just caught up on all the reading and definitely got a few chuckles! I hope you are continuing to do well. I miss you so much and you won't believe this, but I'll be in San Jose 7/15-7/20. Just our luck, huh?!?

Bari Luis, Bari Or, Bari Yerekoo, depending on when you are reading this. I have so much enjoyed your blog! LOL at times (how's that for text messaging) - I can relate a little of what your first impressions have been with visiting Slovakia back in 1995. No matter what time of day a person would visit, they would come out with their homemade liquor, fruit juices, and pastries. And when you talked about Pirogue - my Dad always that for the holidays. And the outside commode was true in Slovakia. And on their land they grew everything they ate, even at the underground storage for cabbage, carrots, potatoes, etc. to have for the winter time. So glad you are settling in and enjoying your host family and other A-16's.
Well, we did our hike over the weekend - Father's day - at Yosemite. Most of us that have hiked together during training also did the Dewey Point Trail. We started at 7200, went up to 7500 feet, and then hiked down to 3400 ft. Very steep and rocky - took us 8 hrs. 47 mins. to hike 10.1 miles. As long as our marathons! The scenery was breathtaking - half dome in the distance and El Capitan and many waterfalls. It was very warm, almost 100 in the Valley. Now that we are back, it has been very hot - 101 today! We have had some fires around the area - the Summit fire in Santa Cruz County and the Martin fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We do need rain, unfortunately the people in the middle of the country are having severe flooding - some saying almost like the 100 year floods. So many people are without their homes, even a hospital was evacuated - the levees are not holding. It did show the last high water level at 19 ft. and about 5 days ago it was at 30.1 ft. Many change weathers here in the States, with fires, floods, hot weather, and tornados. So much for that.
Really funny reading about your TP description - better than using a corn cob! That's it for now - keep writing the good blog material and the pictures were great.
